This journal is designed as a historically accurate in-world artifact for campaigns set in the 1920s. Its layout, typography, and visual conventions draw directly from real notebooks and calendars of the period, with the goal of creating a functional object that feels at home on a 1920s desk rather than a modern gaming aid. Each book in the series corresponds to a real calendar year from the decade and is intended to serve as a personal record for investigators, scholars, travelers, or ordinary citizens documenting extraordinary events.
Every day of the year is given a full lined page, printed with the correct date and day of the week, the number of days elapsed and remaining in the year, and traditional calendar conventions such as Sundays marked in red. Secular holidays and major Catholic dates are listed as they were observed in the United States during the period, alongside accurate lunar phases and notable astronomical events. A miscellany section at the back of the book provides additional pages for campaign use, including address-book style pages for tracking recurring characters, ruled pages for extended notes, and gridded pages for maps, diagrams, or investigative sketches.
The journal is intended for detailed daily note-keeping during historical and investigative role-playing campaigns, as well as for solo journaling games and other narrative play. It is system-agnostic and not an official accessory for any role-playing game, but it is well suited to early-20th-century settings involving horror, mystery, academic life, and pulp adventure. Used consistently, it becomes a chronological record of a campaign as experienced by a single character, grounding play in time, routine, and consequence.
